The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is a requirement of GGC's reaccreditation through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS). It is a carefully designed plan that addresses a well-defined, focused topic related to enhancing student learning and/or the learning environment.
Georgia Gwinnett College has chosen "Internationalization of the Curriculum: Engaging the World to Develop Global Citizens” as its QEP. The QEP, along with GGC’s Compliance Certification document, will be reviewed by SACS during the College’s reaffirmation on-site visit October 8-10, 2013. GGC’s QEP will encompass a five-year plan with implementation beginning fall 2013 or spring 2014. For a timeline, see the QEP Roadmap (PDF).
The development of a college-wide plan will offer international learning opportunities broadly across the curriculum. It will impact all students’ knowledge, skills and attitudes through carefully designed courses in both majors and general education.
The QEP Committee, in concert with representatives from each of the schools, has been developing an implementation plan which will provide opportunities for students to achieve specific learning outcomes in general education courses and in majors. Faculty from each school and discipline conducted an assessment of each and every GGC course to determine the current level of international content. From this review, each school provided a first-level of recommendations about which courses can be redesigned with more international content and provide students with a comprehensive internationalized curriculum to achieve the following desired learning outcomes.

GGC has thus far and will continue to provide a significant degree of resources to the development and implementation of the QEP which will include faculty and staff professional development. The campus community will remain an integral part of this planning and many exciting details will follow as faculty within the schools work to identify specific courses (new and revised) for inclusion in the internationalized curriculum.
