An Americanist in academic discipline and study, Dr. Haydock is currently an associate professor of English. He has previously served GGC as associate dean and acting dean of the School of Liberal Arts. He also served the University System of Georgia as director of graduate studies in Arts and Sciences and director of graduate admissions and advising in education at Georgia State University. Previously he was the director of graduate journalsm at the University of South Dakota.

Haydock has recently concentrated his publications around the influence of French novelist Honoré de Balzac on American Herman Melville. His other contributions have appeared in the areas of journalism criticism, documentary film and television sitcom writing. In addition, Haydock has been a professional news producer and documentary filmmaker.
