Biography

Dr. Joshua Roberts is from the Appalachian region of southwestern Virginia. As a first-generation college graduate, he understands the difficulties and mysteries of navigating college that can arise for first-gen students. After high school, he worked at various jobs, including working on a marina on the Florida gulf and selling electrical surplus parts, before earning a BS degree in math, with minors in physics and philosophy, from UVA-Wise.

He earned his Master's and PhD in math from the University of Kentucky and taught at Piedmont College in North Georgia. In 2014, he accepted a position at GGC.

Roberts teaches a wide-range of courses, from introductory college algebra to upper-level math courses like topology and complex analysis.

His research interests, broadly speaking, involve topology and its applications. This includes past and currently available undergraduate research projects.
