Rebecca H. Davis, Ph.D., ACFRE, CFRE has more than 25 years of professional experience in academic and non-profit settings in development including major gifts work, grant writing, corporate sponsorships, peer-to-peer fundraising and event management, as well as volunteer coordination, adult education, research and writing. 

A graduate of the AFP Faculty Training Academy, Davis is a master trainer who has been a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) since 2007. She was awarded the ACFRE—the top credential of the fundraising profession—in January 2018. According to the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the ACFRE demonstrates advanced level breadth and depth of knowledge about the fundraising practice, a commitment to leadership in the sector and a commitment to ethical and effective professional practice.

Prior to coming to Georgia Gwinnett College, Davis worked as the director of Development at LaGrange College. Earlier fundraising experience includes working for the Alzheimer’s Association South Carolina Chapter, the National Down Syndrome Congress, the Children’s Center for Hope & Healing (Gainesville, Georgia) and Pendleton Place Children’s Shelter (Greenville, South Carolina). 

Davis holds a Ph.D. in political science from Emory University. She is the author of a book on women and politics: "Women and Power in Parliamentary Democracies" (1997), the editor of a comparative politics textbook, and has published several articles, including a peer-reviewed article with two undergraduate students with whom she conducted original research while on faculty at Virginia Tech.
