Biography

Dr. Mrstik is an associate professor of curriculum and instruction at Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC). From 1999 to 2014, Mrstik taught a variety of subjects to a diverse group of learners at the high school level ranging from English, science and special education in Florida. She was the department chair of the special education department, and in 2010, was named the Teacher of the Year for her high school. Besides teaching in Florida, Mrstik has taught full-immersion English in Chile, Argentina and Peru. She has also taught students with disabilities in South Africa. Dr. Mrstik graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2017 with her Ph.D. in special education and has been teaching preservice teachers to be special educators at GGC since 2017.
