Christmas Eve U.S. Soldier Homecoming

On Christmas Eve 2007, the Preczewski family will welcome home their daughter, Kristen Preczewski, a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army currently serving her country in Jalalabad, Afghanistan. Kristen will fly from Kuwait City, Kuwait and is expected to land at Hartsfield-Jackson airport on Dec. 24. Her welcome crew will include her father, Colonel (retired) Stanley “Stas” Preczewski, the vice president of academic and student affairs at Georgia Gwinnett College and former vice dean at the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY; her mother, Jean Preczewski; and her two younger brothers, Michael and David.

GGC's First Honor Society to be Established

Georgia Gwinnett College received approval on Oct. 29 from the International Leadership Council and Board of Directors of the Golden Key International Honour Society for the provisional chartering of the first honor society chapter on campus. Members of the Council and Board of Directors will visit GGC for a breakfast and campus tour today to discuss the details of the honor society’s establishment.

Candidacy Visit Authorized for GGC

Georgia Gwinnett College officials learned Dec. 10 that GGC has been authorized a candidacy visit by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC). A contingent of GGC administrators attended the SACS-COC 112th annual meeting Dec. 8-11 in New Orleans, LA. The candidacy visit is required for Georgia Gwinnett College to achieve candidacy status in the accreditation process.

Health Notification

Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) officials announced today at 6:30 p.m. that a student attending Georgia Perimeter College on GGC’s campus had a confirmed case of viral meningitis; however has been cleared to return to campus by a physician. Jennifer Stephens, GGC’s Director of Public Relations noted that GGC officials were notified Thursday, Dec. 6 that the student last attended class on Wednesday, November 28, and began feeling poorly on Friday evening, November 30. The student has not been on campus since the Wednesday, Nov. 28 class.

Service Learning: Connecting Class and Community

Ten years ago, many of us might not have been connected to the military community. We had the luxury of being able to enjoy our daily lives knowing that we were, for the most part, safe. But safety has a new meaning, and a new priority, since 9/11. We are now very much connected to the men and women who serve to protect our country from all threats at home and abroad.

Kaufman Presents Legislative Agenda to Gwinnett Delegation

Georgia Gwinnett College President Daniel J. Kaufman met with the Gwinnett Legislative Delegation today to present the College’s 2008 legislative agenda. Kaufman updated the Delegation on the status of the College’s growth in facilities and its accreditation application. He also requested support for the University System of Georgia’s budget and any line item that GGC may have in the budget.

GGC Engaging Students with "TLC"

Research shows that the more involved college students are at the school of their choice, the better their grades will be and the more likely they will be to graduate from that institution. Part of the mission at Georgia Gwinnett College is to provide an underlying support structure that travels with each student throughout his or her journey at the College.
