Head tennis coach Chase Hodges is off to a strong start building the Georgia Gwinnett College tennis program, inking decorated champion Erik Moberg of Uttran, Sweden, as the first signee in program history.
“I'm ecstatic to welcome Erik as the first-ever men’s tennis player at GGC and look forward to seeing him represent our program,” said Hodges. “He is a terrific student-athlete and will make a huge impact for us.”
Moberg owns titles in five national events, including four in singles play. He also claimed three International Tennis Federation championships.
He earned a wild card into the ATP Stockholm Open as a junior qualifier and won his first match before falling to former world top 10-ranked player Arnaud Clement.
Moberg also appeared in a qualifying match for the Australian Open junior tournament.
“Erik is a Swedish national champion who already has established himself as a top amateur talent,” added Hodges.
“We expect that he will make great contributions to our squad as we build this young program.” The Grizzlies will begin their inaugural season on the courts next spring.
