GGC offers 12 majors - biology, business administration, criminal justice/criminology, early childhood education, English, exercise science, history, information technology, mathematics, political science, psychology and special education.
There are more than 40 concentrations, seven academic minors, a certificate in Latin-American Studies and an Honors Program. The biology program provides in depth studies and opportunities for research and internships that prepare students for medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, medically-related research, graduate and professional studies, or joining the business and industry work force.

Criminal justice/criminology is an intensive overview of each of the components of the criminal justice system as well as an analysis of the societal and behavioral influences of deviant behavior.

The B.S. degree in Early Childhood Education prepares students to teach grades preschool through five, and includes an endorsement for English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

The English program provides students interested in examining writing, literature and culture with a course of study, transferable skills and a degree that equip them for a variety of careers and vocations, including education, marketing and sales, communications, public relations, journalism, publishing, law, business administration and more.

The exercise science program prepares students to pursue ACSM Certified Personal Trainer or an ACSM Certified Health Fitness Specialist. Graduates will be prepared for employment as personal or corporate fitness trainers, health care professionals in cardiovascular/pulmonary rehabilitation programs, physicians’ offices, medical fitness centers or consult for research, public health and other clinical and non-clinical venues, and for professional educational programs in health care fields such as physical therapy, occupational therapy and as physician assistants.

The B.A. degree in history is for students interested in a wide range of career choices ranging from education to law to the business world.

The Information Technology concentration prepares students for opportunities in almost every field -- from business to health care, arts and entertainment, education, government, forensics and national security. Students graduate as ITEC professionals with knowledge of computer hardware and software, databases, telecommunications, wireless technology and the Internet. They also develop the skills of effective communication, teamwork and leadership.

Mathematics is the study of quantity, structure, space, relation, change and various topics of pattern, form and entity and goes far beyond the traditional math topics studied in high school. The program is designed to prepare students for employment in business, industry and government immediately after graduation.

The B.A. degree in political science is for students interested in a wide range of career choices, including government service, advocacy, legislative assistance, international non-government organizations, non-profit management, education, law school and graduate school.

The psychology program prepares students to pursue a career in the applied aspects of psychology as well as advanced study in the fields of psychology, law, business, medicine and a wide range of other graduate degrees.

Through a combination of classroom and field-based learning, GGC's Special Education program gives future educators an opportunity to acquire the necessary assessment, instructional and consultation skills for working effectively with culturally and linguistically diverse children and/or adolescents who have special educational needs.
The Certificate in Latin American Studies (CLAS) is a collaborative program of the University System of Georgia and the Americas Council. It is open to students in all majors. To apply for acceptance into this program, a student must first complete 30 credit hours, maintain a 2.8 GPA (or above) and complete one 3-credit hour course that focuses on contemporary Latin America or a 3-credit hour course on Latin American culture and civilization.
