You might say the School of Business put a "festive bow" on the end of the fall 2011 semester.
All of the attendees at the School's holiday party, Dec. 6, were asked to make a donation to the Marine Corps' popular Toys for Tots campaign.
While faculty enjoyed some egg nog, cookies and time to unwind, the toy collection box in the corner filled up with all manner of juvenile joys.
The toys will be distributed to needy children throughout the Greater Atlanta area.
The return on investment? Smiles all around -- and something more.
"This is consistent with the School's overall aim, to produce students who will be ethical and responsible citizens," said Associate Dean Tyler Yu. "We want to foster that mentality with our students, and this is a great way to show them."
Associate Professor of Marketing Dr. Alice Collins echoed her colleague.
"Service learning is one of the pillars of a GGC education," she said. "Each semester, we have business students working with local businesses and charities, lending their business skills to needy organizations. When the faculty were looking for ways to celebrate the season, it just made sense that we work with Toys for Tots."
