Donna Abrams, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Sociology
Congratulations to Dr. Abrams on the acceptance of her paper titled, "The Health Belief Model: Understanding Behavior and HIV/AIDs in Women". Dr. Abrams has been invited to present at the International Journal of Arts and Sciences(IJAS) Conference for Academic Disciplines, Rosen College, Florida. The Conference will be held March 1-4, 2010.
Dovile Budryte, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Psychology
Congratulations to Dr. Budryte on the following:
- Dr. Budryte completed two more long interpretative essays on "transitional regimes" and "empowerment" for the International Encyclopedia of Political Science (CQ Press); in addition to "nation" and "nationalization";
- Dr. Budryte's paper proposal "Resisting the Rights of 'Non-Traditional' Minorities in Lithuania" for an upcoming international joint SASS (Scandinavian Studies)-AABS (Association for the Advancement of Baltic Studies) Conference in Seattle, WA, was accepted; the conference will be held on April 22-24, 2010;
- Dr. Budryte also received an invitation to serve as a discussant on a panel addressing historical memory in New Orleans (International Studies Association's Annual Meeting); New Orleans, February 17-20, 2010;
- Dr. Budryte received an invitation to contribute to the "Historical Yearbook" published by the "Nicolae Iorga" Institute of History, one of the most prestigious institutions of the Romanian Academy of Science (http://www.iini.ro/english/hy.htm).
- Dr. Budryte is also working on two more essays for a book on Transitional Justice to be published by Cambridge University Press.
Marc Gilley, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Music
Congratulations to Dr. Gilley on being invited to perform at the North American Saxophone Alliance Biennial Conference on March 3, 2010. Dr. Gilley will be performing "Faces of the Blues" by David Baker- a piece for saxophone soloist with saxophone quartet accompaniment. This conference is the largest meeting of saxophonists in North America.
Victor McGlone, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Spanish Congratulations to Dr. McGlone on the publication of an article titled, "Recruiting teachers in the 21st century. Dr. McGlone and others wrote the article; please find the citation below for further reference:

Steve Platek, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Psychology Congratulations to Dr. Platek for his most recent publication, entitled "Optimal waist-to-hip ratios in women activate neural reward centers in men." The publication was co-authored by Professor Devendra Singh, evolutionary psychologist at the University of Texas, and it was published in PLoS ONE.
Ellen Rafshoon, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, History
Congratulations to Dr. Rafshoon on being invited to contribute to the Chronology of the U.S. Presidency published by Greenwood Press. This forthcoming publication will focus on U.S. Presidents and crises they encountered during their administration. The theme for the publication is "Vision and Crisis". Dr. Rafshoon will write about President Carter.
Antiwan Walker, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, English
Congratulations to Dr. Walker who will be presenting a paper titled "Sexuality and the City: Mapping Sexual Geographies in the Works of E. Lynn Harris". The presentation will take place in April at the 70th Annual College Language Association Conference in Brooklyn, New York. |
