The following are descriptions of the course sequences for course-embedded research in biology, exercise science and mathematics.

Biology

Biochemistry

This flow chart shows the four-year sequence of courses in the biochemistry biology track that have authentic research experiences embedded in the curriculum. The sequence begins freshman year with Principles of Chemistry I and II (CHEM 1211K and CHEM 1212K, respectively) and Principles of Biology I and II (BIOL 1107K and BIOL 1108K, respectively). This is followed sophomore year by Cell Biology (BIOL 3400K) and Organic Chemistry II (CHEM 2112K), and in the junior year, Advanced Biochemistry and BCHM 4100K. The curriculum culminates senior year in either Undergraduate Research (STEC 4500), an Internship (BIOL 4800), Experimental Methods (BIOL 4570), or Research Methods in Biology (BIOL 4560). Students who follow this sequence will have had authentic research experiences throughout their four years at Georgia Gwinnett College.

General Biology

This flow chart shows the four-year sequence of courses in the general biology track that have authentic research experiences embedded in the curriculum. The sequence begins freshman year with Principles of Chemistry I and II (CHEM-1211K and CHEM-1212K, respectively), and Principles of Biology I and II (BIOL-1107K and BIOL-1108K, respectively). This is followed sophomore year by Cell Biology (BIOL-3400K) and Organic Chemistry II (CHEM-2112K). During the junior year, the sequence continues with Microbiology (BIOL-3300K) and Biotechnology Lab (BIOL-4300K). The curriculum culminates senior year in either Undergraduate Research (STEC-4500), an Internship (BIOL-4800), Experimental Methods (BIOL-4570), or Research Methods in Biology (BIOL-4560). Students who follow this sequence will have had authentic research experiences throughout their four years in college.

Biology Teacher Certification

This flow chart shows the four-year sequence of courses in the teacher certification biology track that have authentic research experiences embedded in the curriculum. The sequence begins freshman year with Principles of Chemistry I and II (CHEM-1211K and CHEM-1212K, respectively) and Principles of Biology I and II (BIOL-1107K and BIOL-1108K, respectively). This is followed by Interdisciplinary Science (ISCI-2500) and Organic Chemistry II (CHEM-2112K) in the sophomore year, and Cell Biology (BIOL-3400K) in the junior year. The curriculum culminates senior year in Ecology (BIOL-3500K), Microbiology (BIOL-3300K), or Biology Content Methods (BIOL 3060). Students who follow this sequence  will have had authentic research experiences throughout their four years in college.

General and Professional Chemistry

The sequence begins freshman year with Principles of Chemistry I and II (CHEM-1211K and CHEM-1212K, respectively). It is followed sophomore year by Analytical Chemistry (CHEM-3000K) and Organic Chemistry II (CHEM-2212K). This is followed junior year by Integrated Lab I (CHEM-4701) and Physical Chemistry I (CHEM-4201K), and culminates senior year in Undergraduate Research (STEC-4500) or an Internship (CHEM-4800) and Integrated Lab II (CHEM-4702). Students who follow this sequence will have had authentic research experiences throughout their four years in college.

Exercise Science

This flow chart shows the four-year sequence of courses in exercise science major that have authentic research experiences embedded in the curriculum. The sequence begins freshman year with Principles of Biology I and II (BIOL-1107K and BIOL-1108K, respectively). It is followed sophomore year by Anatomy and Physiology I (BIOL-2451K) and Psychosocial Aspects of Health and Wellness (EXSC-3200). This is followed junior year by Fitness Assessment (EXSC-3300K), and culminates senior year in Undergraduate Research (STEC-4500) or an Internship (EXSC-4700) or Exercise Testing and Prescription, (EXSC-4100). Students who follow this sequence will have had authentic research experiences throughout their four years in college.

Information Technology

Software Development

This flow chart shows the four-year sequence of courses in the information technology software development track that have authentic research experiences embedded in the curriculum. The sequence begins freshman year with Introduction to Computing (ITEC-1001). This is followed sophomore year by Information Systems (ITEC-2201), and in junior year, Development I and II (ITEC-3860 and ITEC-3870, respectively). The curriculum culminates senior year with Undergraduate Research (STEC-4500) or Testing and Quality Assurance (ITEC-4260). Students who follow this sequence will have had authentic research experiences throughout their four years in college.

Systems and Security

This flow chart shows the four-year sequence of courses in the information technology system and security track that have authentic research experiences embedded in the curriculum. The sequence begins freshman year with Introduction to Computing (ITEC-1001). This is followed sophomore year by Information Systems (ITEC-2201), and junior year, IT Ethics and Practice (ITEC 3900). The curriculum culminates in senior year with Undergraduate Research (STEC-4500), or Project I or II (ITEC-4810). Students who follow this sequence will have had authentic research experiences throughout their four years in college.

Mathematics

This flow chart shows the four-year sequence of courses in the mathematics major that have authentic research experiences embedded in the curriculum. The sequence begins freshman year with Calculus (MATH-2200). This is followed sophomore year by Foundations and Mathematics (MATH-2500), and junior year, with Mathematical Statistics I (MATH-3300). The curriculum culminates senior year in either Undergraduate Research (STEC-4500) or a Capstone Experience (MATH-4900). Students who follow this sequence will have had authentic research experiences throughout their four years in college.
