Programs Offered
- The Academic Enhancement Center (AEC) supports classroom instruction with free tutoring in most disciplines offered by the College. English and basic mathematics tutors are available on a walk-in basis whenever the Center is open. For more information about our tutoring, call us at 678.407.5143 or 678.407.5191.
- The Cisco-funded Tutors Around Campus (TAC) program sends a team of skilled educators to different locales on the GGC campus - cafes, lobbies, the dorms. No appointments are necessary. Students can stop by to work on a homework problem or to outline a research paper. Currently, this program focuses on three subject areas: mathematics, English and chemistry. Find out more
- The Tutors in the Classroom (TIC) program sends highly qualified, professional tutors into Student Success courses, where they proactively assist students in the learning process. The program also provides tutors for after-class consultations with students.
- Each semester, the Student Success Workshop Series offers students helpful advice on critical areas that affect academic performance. Workshop topics typically include note-taking, time management, stress reduction, study groups, test-taking skills, learning the APA citation style, basic grammar and many other subjects.
- Student Success English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses are for high school graduates whose native language is not English. These courses help students develop the skills they need to achieve academic success at GGC.
- Student Success courses in English, reading and math are for high school graduates who score below the collegiate level in these areas and need to build a strong foundation for college-level courses.
- Student Success Advising supports students enrolled in Student Success EAP, English, reading and math courses.
- Student Success offers two ways for students to demonstrate competency in reading and writing, including the Online Competency Test.
- Student Success sponsors the Speaking Center, which helps students with oral presentations, speeches, and all aspects of public speaking. For more information call 678.407.5879 or email our new speech tutor, Katrina Henry at khenry1@ggc.edu.
