Ms. Tara Thomson

Tara Thomson earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia in 2010 and her master’s degree from Indiana State University in 2013. Her interest in helping prospective students choose their paths began during her undergraduate career as a student ambassador. Since graduating, she has held multiple professional roles at the Ohio State University and Indiana State University assisting high school and transfer students make the transition into college life.

Although she has lived and worked in many places throughout the country, Thomson is originally a Gwinnett native and graduated from Duluth High School. She is happy to be back in Gwinnett County and is excited to help serve the students where she grew up. She enjoys meeting people from all backgrounds and learning the fascinating stories of what brought them to GGC. 

Aside from her counselor responsibilities, Thomson spends her free time exploring the outdoor opportunities in and around Atlanta with her dog. She loves to hike, camp, and spend time on the river. In addition, you can find her anywhere where there are animals. She loves to volunteer at local humane societies and animal rescues.
