Admissions/Academics

  • College Prep Diploma/2.0 GPA

  • Tech Prep Diploma/2.5 GPA

  • Freshmen and applicants with fewer than 30 transfer hours must request that their most recently-attended high school submit an official high school transcript to Georgia Gwinnett College

  • Applicants who have attended any college (as a transfer student or as a HOPE-ACCEL student) must request official college transcripts from all colleges previously attended (official transcripts must be sent directly to Georgia Gwinnett College)

  • As a member of the University System of Georgia, courses taken at GGC are easily transferrable to and from institutions within the state university system

  • Over 40 concentrations in 12 majors, teacher education tracks and pre-health courses

  • Joint Enrollment classes available

  • Nearly all of the College’s full-time faculty hold a Ph.D., Ed.D., or other professional terminal degree

  • The faculty’s primary roles are teaching and student engagement, not research

  • 2009-2010 tuition at GGC is $100 per credit hour up to $1,500 per semester - view full tuition and fees

  • Financial Aid is available: HOPE Scholarship (tuition, approved fees and book stipend), Pell Grant, Federal Grants and Loans (tuition, fees, books and living expenses)

  • Students may complete the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov [GGC’s FAFSA Code is 041429]


In and Around the Classroom

  • GGC ranks among top 10 percent in the nation for student engagement and support (2008 and 2009 NSSE surveys)
  • Student Success Programs ensure that all GGC students, regardless of their academic preparation, have a comprehensive student support program to develop skills needed to succeed

  • From computers in every classroom, to a totally wireless campus, to built-in recorders that capture elctures, to smart phones that allow quizzes via text message, these innovations and others like themdeliver a one-of-a-kind, 21st Century education

  • Small classes; evening and weekend classes are available

  • Faculty mentors work closely with their students throughout their years at Georgia Gwinnett

  • Faculty are available to students via cell phone for questions and academic assistance

  • The First Year Matters program and First Year Seminar-GGC 1000 support students and help them to develop skills and attitudes necessary for college and life success

Housing

  • The first phase of residence halls is slated to open in August 2010 and will accommodate 1,029 students

  • Suite-style living areas house either two, three, four, six, eight or 12 students

  • Each suite will include a well-equipped kitchenette and a common living area for all of the residents of the suite

  • Conveniently, there will be one bathroom for every two students in the suite

  • Each resident will have his or her own private bedroom

  • A fitness center with a large gymnasium, swimming pool, game room, running track and training area with Nautilus equipment, free weights, treadmills, stationary bicycles and racquet ball courts

  • Lively recreation and intramurals program with outdoor adventures including hiking, sailing and rock wall climbing, and a sports program with basketball, indoor soccer, tennis, golf, dodgeball, racquetball, indoor flag football and sand volleyball
