Center for Teaching Excellence

The Center for Teaching Excellence nurtures an institutional culture that supports and values excellence in teaching and learning. Through an array of professional learning opportunities, the Center promotes the development and implementation of innovative approaches that effectively engage the educational community.

The mission of the CTE is to provide programming that promotes the design and implementation of creative learning environments. It supports the implementation of effective instructional practices, facilitates an environment of instructional experimentation, and enhances the skills needed to engage students in the learning process. The CTE will provide a community forum for the exchange of ideas and innovative instructional practices that lead to high levels of student learning.

To achieve its mission, the CTE:

• Provides programs that highlight student engagement.
• Supports the development of innovative teaching and learning strategies.
• Fosters a culture that practices, values and rewards college teaching and learning as vital forms of scholarship.
