“No Cost to Student for ITEC 2110 – Continue.” Funded by the USG Affordable Learning Georgia (ALG) Textbook Transformation Grant.
In 2015, Dr. Shuhua Lai (Principal Investigator) and Dr. Kairui Chen (co-Principal Investigator) were funded with an ALG Textbook Transformation Grant and successfully developed a suite of no-cost-to-student course learning materials for ITEC 2110 (Digital Media). These materials have been made available to approximately 1,700 GGC students who take this course annually, resulting in significantly reduced costs to students. The ALG Textbook Transformation Grant once again awarded the principal investigators to continue their work. Through the ALG funds, Drs. Lai and Chen will revise and create a new set of ITEC 2110 course materials that will reflect the most recent advancements suitable for ITEC 2110. They plan to pilot the revised course learning materials in spring 2018 semester to at least four sections of ITEC 2110 --including reading materials, lecture notes, tutorials/video clips, hands-on activities, labs, homework assignments, and tests-- that are consistent with new technological advances in the area of digital media. All of the revised materials will continue to be freely available to the public and hosted through the GALILEO Open Learning Materials. Dr. Lai is Professor of Information Technology and Dr. Kairui Chen is Associate Professor of Information Technology in the School of Science and Technology.
