A sneak-peek of GGC's new buildings
This photo gallery includes pictures of GGC's new residence halls, Student Center, and Library and Learning Center from June 5, 2010. For more information, visit the applying to GGC page or the student housing page.
The new student residence halls stand ready for their first tenants.
This is a view of the shared kitchenette area in a six-bedroom suite in the new residence halls. Refrigerators and microwaves are provided, along with generous cabinet and counter space and a very large, double-door pantry - shown partly opened in this photo.
This is an alcove where two bedrooms share a bathroom and a vanity area. Every student resident has their own vanity sink and cabinet space. This photo also shows a view into one of the bedrooms and its opened closet.
Each suite includes shared living spaces adjacent to the kitchenettes. Each living space includes a wall-mounted, flat-screen TV. In this suite, it would be mounted on the wall at the right. All windows look out into landscaped areas.
The residence halls have been freshly landscaped with a sodded lawn, trees, shrubs and ornamental plants. The pipe-like objects in this photo are awaiting installation of light posts.
In this photo of the interior of the Library and Learning Center, the grand stairway is to the left, and the front entrance is at center-right of the frame. Windows into six private study rooms are seen on the left wall.
This is the view from the second floor of the Library and Learning Center's atrium, looking up toward the third floor. The Grand Reading Room is in the windowed area upstairs, and it will contain a more traditionally appointed area for quiet study.
The Library and Learning Center's three-story atrium will feature furnishings and a fully wired floor, enabling students to plug in their laptops for work and study. The grand staircase and main entrance are seen at the far end of the room. There will be a courtyard in front of the windows.
Each of the new buildings will contain interesting features. This is a special ceiling design over the grand staircase in the Library and Learning Center.
In this view of the three-story atrium, one can see how each floor of the Library and Learning Center is flooded with natural light. Book collections will be on the first and second floors.
The Student Center also will have a curtain of windows that faces the quad and Building B. The building will contain a dining hall and a variety of spaces for academic and student life uses. It is a short walk from the residence halls.
The dining hall is located on the ground floor of the Student Center. Here, a floor covering and overhead plastic sheeting protect the newly installed floor from construction dust. Additional seating will be located outdoors, at the far side of the room.
This is a view from the third floor of the Student Center, looking down onto the plastic sheeting protecting the dining hall's floor below. The far windows overlook a pond and a terrace, which is located off the second floor.
Looking in the opposite direction as the previous photo, one can see Buildings C and B in the distance.
This photo shows the same area as the previous two shots, but from the second floor. The terrace can be seen through the far windows. Some of the dining hall's outdoor seating will be located under the terrace.
This is a view of the Student Center from the Library and Learning Center's third-floor terrace. The residence halls are a short walking distance past the trees behind the Student Center.
