Dawn Gadar, Business Major

"At first I was nervous when I decided to get my degree, but the GGC community helped me realize that the fear was unfounded. When you are a part of the GGC community, you have a feeling of belonging."

To describe Dawn Gadar's schedule as busy is an understatement. She is a wife, a mother of three and a grandmother of two. Working as a full-time administrative assistant adds to her busy schedule, but somehow Dawn has managed to fit in attending classes to earn her bachelor’s degree in business.

Her Secret for Success

"It's a daily challenge making my busy schedule work. I've learned that it is important to know my limitations. The secret to my success is working with a plan; get enough sleep and wake up early to study and prepare for the day."

Family Support

"I owe a lot of my positivity and accomplishments to my loving husband, supportive children, helpful faculty and fellow GGC staff members. I have cheerleaders, and it makes me feel accountable. When I feel like I can’t do something, I think of them."

On GGC Faculty

"The professors are caring and supportive. Students are more than just a number; the faculty members are always available to help and will go out of their way to make learning easier. They want to see students succeed."

Why She’s Going to College

"Not only am I working hard to fulfill my dreams, I’m also striving to show my children that it is possible. I lead by example, and hope to instill the value and importance of higher education in my children."

Her Advice

"Know yourself, know what you can do to balance your life and develop yourself. It is surprising to see how much you can do. You can do it!"
