Michael Gerdes, Business Major

"I have a 16-year-old daughter, four-year-old daughter and a six-year-old son. Returning to school allows me to be a good example for my kids who think it's cool that Dad goes to school too." A skeptic at first, Michael Gerdes has since learned to love and embrace Georgia Gwinnett College with open arms. Michael made his way to GGC via the University of Iowa, the US Marine Corps, Gwinnett Technical College and DeVry University.

On His Career

"Not having the formal training of school made my position stagnant; I couldn't get promoted. I narrowed down my choices and I realized it was more cost effective to come to GGC."

On GGC's Quality

"An attracting point for me was the credibility and quality of the professors at GGC."

About Gaining Confidence

"GGC offers a supportive environment, and there are different programs to help students succeed. I had a difficult time one semester, but I used the services on campus to help get me through it."

Balancing Work and College

"When I first came to GGC, I worked a full-time job while taking a full load of courses. I've since turned my focus into school full-time, but it is possible to attend school and work full-time."
