Student Spotlight: Mike Pierre-Louis
Year: Sophomore
Major: Information Technology
Minor: Business Administration
Mike is going to take the business world by storm. He is a self-proclaimed “gadget nerd” and has chosen to work in an electronics store to get a better understanding of business ideals. Through his job, he has been exposed to many forms of technology such as programming, which only reinforces his desire to be a business consultant for the very same company he works for now.
A native of Brooklyn, NY, Mike spent most of his life in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He moved back to the US when he was 17 and graduated with Honors from Brookwood High School in Snellville, Ga. “Now (that) I am attending GGC, I can honestly say I feel like I have made the right choice by coming to this school. As the campus is expanding, student life is also getting broader and more unified. I am very proud to be among the first [students] who are shaping the future for GGC. It is definitely history in the making!”
Choosing GGC was not a decision Mike took lightly. What impressed him most about GGC were the qualifications of the professors; most professors at GGC hold a Ph.D. degree and all hold terminal degrees in their field, and they continue to participate in continuing their own learning while teaching. “When I was researching schools, I wanted professors whose credentials were on par with, or above, the norm. I did not want to choose a school based on its proximity to my house. I was definitely impressed with GGC.”
Mike is a fervent fan of Sean Carter (formerly Jay-Z) because “He has mastered the way in adjusting himself between the right individual and changing his business to suit the public. It is amazing how he has improved himself from an artist to a multi-millionaire businessman. He is truly the epitome of success, and I would like to catch that flair.” Mike also has a strong desire to travel. Some of his family resides in France and he has heard stories for years as to how beautiful the country is.
