Jobs and Internships

Internships and experiential education opportunities provide students the chance to gain experience in their field, determine if they have an interest in a particular career, create a network of contacts, and in some cases, academic credit. The experience may be unpaid, paid or partially paid (in the form of a stipend). Paid internships are most common in the medical, science, engineering, law, business (especially accounting and finance), technology and advertising fields. Opportunities in non-profit organizations are often unpaid or volunteer positions. Experiences may be part-time or full-time; typically they are part-time during the college year and full-time in the summer, and they usually last 6-12 weeks (semester), but can be shorter or longer. At Georgia Gwinnett College, your experience outside of the classroom is as important as what you learn within it.

If you are a student or faculty member and you have questions about the internship/experiential education programs, or if you are an employer interested in hosting or creating an internship program with GGC students, please contact Andrea Holyfield Scott at aholyfield@ggc.edu or 678.407.5858.

Experiential Education

Experiential Education Opportunities (EEO's) are internships and/or shadowing opportunities that allow for valuable real world experiences. EEO’s are offered through the Career Development and Advising Center and are not identical to academic internships; therefore they may not qualify for credit towards graduation. Students are encouraged to inform their faculty mentor of their decision to participate in an EEO. Only current students and recent alumni may apply for EEO’s.
