What Makes Us Different

Student success and lifelong personal achievement is paramount to the Georgia Gwinnett College student of tomorrow.  Following the intention and purpose of GGC to establish and implement an innovative educational environment that integrates student engagement from acceptance through graduation, the GGC Career Development and Advising Center intends to promote positive engagement with each student from the first introduction to campus, and maintain a commitment to the students’ total educational plan in the classroom and amongst their cumulative college experience. The synergy of excellence we instill within our students is crucial to their collective success during their entire academic careers as our GGC students strive to become the next generation of leaders in the world. To promote this student success, we developed an integrated and innovative program, the GGC Gold Standard (GGC Gold), to prepare and empower our students with the proper skills, strategies and initiative to succeed in their future plans.

The GGC Gold Standard has four major incorporated components:

• Interview technique and interpersonal communication skills
• Dress for success – presenting a professional image
• Resume and business writing preparation
• Business and workplace ethics and accountability

Why these particular components?

The GGC student is expected to maintain the highest academic integrity by developing advanced knowledge and interpersonal skills within the classroom.  To continue the degree of excellence provided by the academic environment, the Career Development and Advising Center intends to collaborate with those efforts through the GGC Gold Standard.  We have determined these four components will provide the proper preparation essential for our graduates to succeed and achieve the expectations of future employers and organizations.  Employers are looking for students who understand their industry, show true and real enthusiasm for them, and overall seem sure of their career and professional choices.  Many of our Career Services peer institutions provide elements of the four components in their programming; however, at GGC we seek to exceed average career preparation for our graduates and provide them with an integrated approach to learning and the achievement of skills necessary to become prominent, professional leaders in their world communities.
