Convocation

Welcome to the GGC Community

Convocation is a traditional ceremony during which Georgia Gwinnett College celebrates its mission and welcomes new students to its community of learners. Held at the beginning of the academic year, Convocation features a day-long series of events, including a Student Activity Fair, a juried Convocation Art Show, and a catered reception. Current students, family members, faculty and staff all gather to welcome GGC's newest students at the formal ceremony, which includes the Annual Convocation Awards program and a keynote address.

We invite you to view highlights of the 2010 Convocation Ceremony.

 A New GGC Convocation Tradition:
The March Through the Arch

In 2010, Georgia Gwinnett College inaugurated a new Convocation tradition: the March Through the Arch. All of the incoming students are now introduced to the formal Convocation Ceremony via a dramatic procession which leads them through the Arch of Knowledge, an architectural portal that frames the GGC Library and Learning Center.

 The GGC Covenant

Convocation reaffirms the sentiments expressed in the GGC Covenant, which all new members of the GGC are able to sign as a gesture of their commitment. We invite you to review the GGC Covenant and to view the GGC Seal.

 Accessibility for All

Georgia Gwinnett College is committed to making the Convocation Ceremony accessible to all members of the GGC community. All of the Convocation events are wheelchair accessible, and an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter translates the Convocation Ceremony.
