Welcome from the Director
Welcome to the GGC Counseling Center.
Whether you are a first time college student or a transfer student, I would like to extend my warm welcome to you and invite you to learn a little about what services are available for you at the Counseling Center.
Pursuing your undergraduate degree is an exciting time, but it can also be a time of many stressors. Students may struggle with personal, emotional, relationship, financial and other issues. The Counseling Center is here to help.
Students coming to the Counseling Center will meet with one of our counselors for an initial assessment. Our counselors are licensed psychologists who have worked at university and college counseling centers on several campuses as well as in private practice and in employee assistance. We have met with students from diverse backgrounds and provided counseling for a wide variety of issues including depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss and stress management. We work with students to explore their concerns and assist them in finding resolution and healing.
Personally, I have extensive training in multicultural issues and I continually strive to increase our awareness in this area. My approach acknowledges the connection of emotional, physical, intellectual, occupational, social and spiritual wellness. I encourage my student clients to ask questions about my style of work, and I modify my approach to work with individual student’s needs and backgrounds. You can read more about my background or please read about the other counselors on the Meet the Staff page.
I invite you to explore the services available to you here in The Counseling Center, in person and on the web. If you would like to schedule an appointment, call the Counseling Center front desk at 678.407.5592.
