Dr. Bill Rogers, Assistant Dean for Wellness
Dr. Rogers received his Doctorate of Arts from Middle Tennessee State University in physical education and has over 15 years experience in higher education. Prior to arriving at GGC, he served as an assistant professor of physical education, director of athletics and director of tennis. A successful tennis coach, Dr. Rogers has coached 14 national champions. Thanks to his impressive record, he received the United States Tennis Association’s Outstanding Community Service Award and a resolution by Georgia’s House of Representatives commending his outstanding collegiate efforts. Most recently, Dr. Rogers was inducted into the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame in the category of tennis.

Mr. Kristofer Newsome, Assistant Director, Recreation and Intramural Sports
Kristofer Newsome previously worked as a graduate assistant with the Hsu School of Public Health at Georgia Southern University. He was also an intern within the Intramural Department at The Ohio State University and recreation coordinator at Brown University. While at Brown, he was awarded with one of the five 2008 National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association: Region I Scholarship Fund Awards. In addition, he was awarded with the Teaching Excellence Certificate during the 2004-2005 and 2005-2006 academic years. Mr. Newsome has a Bachelor of Science in sports and leisure studies from The Ohio State University and a Master of Science in sport management from Georgia Southern University.

Ms. Rose I. Gochenaur Outdoor Adventure Recreation Coordinator
Rose Gochenaur received her Bachelor of Arts in mathematics from Messiah College in Pennsylvania and her Master of Arts in recreation parks and tourism administration from Western Illinois University. In the time between her bachelor’s and master’s degrees, Ms. Gochenaur worked at Diakon Wilderness Center instructing 31-Day challenge courses with adjudicated youth. At Diakon Wilderness Center, she was able to co-design the 31-Day challenge course for women, assist in developing "Leave No Trace" curriculum for the Center and help convert the program to a traditional bulk food rationing system. While working on her master’s degree, Ms. Gochenaur was the challenge course manager at WIU’s Horn Field Campus. Additionally, Ms. Gochenaur instructed WIU's unique ECOEE (Enviromental Conservation and Outdoor Education Expedition), a traveling semester study program which began in Illinois and ended in Baja, California. Ms. Gochenaur is a certifying instructor through the Wilderness Education Association, a sea-kayaking instructor through the American Canoe Association, a master educator through Leave No Trace and a wilderness first responder once through the Wilderness Medicine Training Center, and re-certified through Wilderness Medical Associates.
