If I am enrolled in an academic activity class, do I need to be a member of the Wellness and Recreation Center?
No. Students attending an academic class do NOT need to complete the Wellness and Recreation Center Membership packet, but they must show their ID (Claw Card) to attend class.
How do I sign-up for a Fitness Class?
To purchase a Group Fitness Class Pass, go to Student Accounts in Building D. A Group Fitness Class Pass is $50 per semester and gives you unlimited access to the 20+ weekly classes offered. Bring your receipt as proof of payment to the Wellness and Recreation Center to verify registration.
I'm a GGC student but I'm not taking summer classes. Can I use the Wellness and Recreation Center during the summer semesters?
Yes. Students not enrolled in summer classes may use the Wellness and Recreation Center. To activate a summer membership, go to Student Accounts and pay the $40 fee. Then bring your receipt to the Wellness and Recreation Center. GGC students enrolled in summer classes do not need to pay the additional fee.
The summer non-student membership is valid May 18-August 15, 2009. No refunds.
Is the Wellness and Recreation Center open during holidays?
Reduced hours of operation (including closure) are in effect during semester breaks, GGC holidays and other scheduled campus closedowns. Guests will be notified of the shutdown prior to the event. Please check the GGC website or JOVO for the most up to date information, or call the Wellness and Recreation Center at 678.407.5589.
Can I use the Wellness and Recreation Center if I don’t have my Claw Card?
All participants who check into the building at Membership Services MUST show a valid Claw Card (GGC ID) or picture ID. The Wellness and Recreation Center is a controlled access facility and only authorized users are allowed entry. No ID, no entry.
Can my family join the Wellness and Recreation Center?
Yes. But, family memberships are currently limited to payroll deduction memberships. Family is considered to be immediate family members (dependants, spouses/domestic partners) residing in the same household.
Who is eligible to join the GGC Wellness and Recreation Center?
The Wellness and Recreation Center is open to GGC students, faculty, staff, family members (spouses, partners, dependants) of faculty/staff and degree-holding alumni. Please see the Membership Policy Manual for specific policies for children/youth and GGC Contractors. A Guest Pass program is also available.

Are guest passes available?
Yes. Students, faculty and staff members may bring up to three guests per day, one pass per person. Guest Passes are valid for one day and guests must be accompanied by a member the entire time. Guest passes must be purchased in advance at Student Accounts during business hours (M-F 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.).
Is the Wellness and Recreation Center open on the weekends?
No, not at this time.
Can I reserve the Wellness and Recreation Center for a private event?
A facility Reservation Request Form is available online and most Wellness and Recreation Center requests require a minimum of two weeks advance notice. Please contact the Membership Services Desk for more information.
I’d like to tour the facility before I join. How do I do this?
Tours are available for groups and individuals upon request. Please contact the Membership Services Desk to schedule an appointment for a tour. You may also take our online tour.
Does the Wellness and Recreation Center accommodate persons with disabilities?
Yes. Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to utilize the facility. The Adaptive Fitness Room on the first floor is equipped with dumbbells, benches, a recumbent bike and an upper body ergometer. For more information, please contact the Membership Services Desk.
Does the Wellness and Recreation Center have a dress code?
Yes. No jeans, slacks, or non-workout shoes allowed. Please be prepared to dress out in order to utilize the facility; this includes “just watching”.
Does the Wellness and Recreation Center offer a towel service?
No, not at this time. Please bring your own shower and/or pool towel as well as a workout towel for use on equipment, courts and in group classes.
May I bring an energy drink with me to have during my workout?
No. Water, in a re-sealable container or sports bottle, is the only beverage allowed in activity areas.
Are personal trainers available to assist me with my workout?
No, not at this time. However, the Fitness Attendant on duty can show you how to use the equipment. We hope to add services like personal training in the future.
