Service Learning, Active Citizenship and Community Engagement
The Office of Service Learning, Active Citizenship and Community Engagement (SLACCE) is a comprehensive service learning and community involvement center at Georgia Gwinnett College. It is designed to foster, support and coordinate community engagement and service learning efforts for the faculty, staff and students of GGC with the local, regional and global community. Following the GGC Mission, SLACCE encourages the GGC community to become active “contributing citizens and future leaders for Georgia and the nation.”

Service learning is a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility and strengthen communities. | Students are encouraged through civic responsibility and accountability within the institution to broaden their perspectives and understanding of the world, and to seek ways to demonstrate a commitment to the local Gwinnett community through awareness and solutions that impact on a global level. | By creating opportunities for scholarly interaction and civic exchanges, the College and its community partners develop successful relationships and programming to strengthen community involvement, activities and citizen participation. |
