Institutional Effectiveness

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Georgia Gwinnett College has committed to an outcomes-driven assessment process at the center of first-year efforts by all units of the College. Concurrent with the development of the College’s Strategic Priorities, the leadership team developed the overall Institutional Goals for Georgia Gwinnett College. These goals provide the context for outcomes-based assessment by all academic, educational support and administrative support units of the College.

The Institutional Goals are as follows:

As a charter 21st Century Institution GGC will:

  • Produce graduates who can anticipate and respond effectively to the changing world.
  • Inspire  graduates to be contributing citizens and community leaders.
  • Achieve significant levels of student success in retention, progression and graduation.
  • Innovatively design and deliver educational programs and support services.
  • Engage with Gwinnett and surrounding communities to support student development.
  • Create a culture devoted to the holistic development of students.
  • Acquire the resource base needed to accomplish its mission and vision.

These goals provide the structure within which Georgia Gwinnett College’s assessment process guarantees a regular and continual systematic review of institutional mission, goals, and outcomes.  The table below shows the relationship of the Institutional Goals to the Mission of Georgia Gwinnett College.

The policy and expectations regarding unit-level assessment for the purpose of improving institutional effectiveness are detailed in the GGC Assessment Framework (PDF)

Furthermore, institutional effectiveness at GGC is directly tied to annual planning, budget development and resource allocation processes, thus ensuring GGC's focus on outcomes and data-driven decision making. The Georgia Gwinnett College Assessment, Planning and Budgeting Cycle details how the assessment effort and subsequent planning are used to determine resource needs and allocations.
