How to Find Articles

Use GALILEO databases to locate full-text articles and citations to articles.

  • Use the Subject tabs (at the top of the screen) to identify databases which contain articles in your subject area or
  • Search in Academic Search Complete and Research Library, two GALILEO databases that include articles from most subject areas.

Note: You need a password in order to access GALILEO resources off-campus.

If you locate a citation:

1) Search for the full-text of the article in another database

  • Use the GALILEO Subject tabs to locate other databases in your subject area or ask a librarian for suggestions.

2)  Search for the article in print

  • Search for the journal or magazine's title on the Exact Search screen of GIL at GGC to see if the library subscribes to the publication you need.
    • Select Journal Title, type the name of the publication in the Search for: box, and then click Go.
    • Check the holdings information (at the bottom of the record) to see if the library has the date and volume you need.
  • Search for the journal or magazine's title on the Keyword Search screen of GIL at GGC to see if the library subscribes to the publication you need.
    • Click the Narrow My Search button on the bottom right of the search panel.
    • In the Location: field, select Periodicals, and then click the Narrow My Search button.
    • Type the name of the publication in the Search for: box, and then click
      Go
      .
    • Check the holdings information (at the bottom of the record) to see if the library has the date and volume you need.
  • If you can't find the article you need at the GGC Library, use the Article Request form to request a copy of the article to be sent to the GGC library. InterLibrary loans typically have a two- to three-week delivery time. NOTE: Students will be charged $.15 per page for articles requested.
