Using Our Electronic Books

Georgia Gwinnett College Library has over twenty-six thousand electronic books, which you can read on or off campus.

Using Ebooks off-campus:

You can use netLibrary books off campus as well as on campus. However, if you want to use netLibrary from off campus, you will need to set up an account. netLibrary accounts are free, and only involve filling out a simple form. To set up an account, on the netLibrary home page, click the small Create a Free Account link in the upper right and follow the instructions.

Where to Find an Electronic Book:

  • GIL (http://gil.ggc.usg.edu)

    1. Do your search in GIL.
    2. In the results list from your search, some items may be labelled [computer file] or [electronic resource]. These are electronic books. These items will also say: “Location: GALILEO netLibrary electronic book”.
    3. To use one of these books:
      • Click on the title of the book you are interested in. This will bring up its bibliographic record.
      • Scroll down to the bottom of the bibliographic record.
      • In the Linked Resources: field, click the An electronic book accessible through GALILEO; click here link.
  • GALILEO (http://www.galileo.usg.edu)

    1. In the Find a Database by Name search box, enter netLibrary, and then click Go!. A link to netLibrary appears.
    2. Click the netLibrary (full-text electronic books) link. The netLibrary home page appears.
    3. From the netLibrary home page, you can search the ebook collection by keyword, title, author, or search for a match in the entire text of the book. There is also a link to more search options.
  • Internet (http://www.netlibrary.com)

    Go directly to http://www.netlibrary.com/ and either set up an account, or log in using the user name and password you selected when you set up your account previously.

Information about using our electronic books:

  • Georgia Gwinnett College Library has thousands of electronic books, which you can read on or off campus.
  • You can create an account in order to use personalization tools, including creating a Favorites list, but a personal account is not required for accessing eBooks through the GALILEO interface.
  • A personal login is required when accessing through library catalogs and through the NetLibrary web site.

How to Cite Electronic books

  • MLA Style:

Include the following information:
    • Author's name (if given)
    • Title of work (underlined)
    • Name of the editor, compiler, or translator (if relevant)
    • Publication information for print version
    • Name of database (netLibrary)
    • Name of online service through which you accessed the database (GALILEO)
    • Date of access and url for the online service (http://www.galileo.usg.edu)

  • APA Style:

Include the following information:
    • Author's name (if given)
    • Publication Year (in parentheses)
    • Title of Work (in italics)
    • Publication Information
    • Date of Access
    • Database name
