Before walking into the new Student Center, take note of the sustainable site features that were integrated into the design of this 80,000 square-foot facility. Completed in fall of 2010, the Student Center complements the adjacent Kaufman Library and both facilities share sustainable strategies. Reduced energy usage and water consumption inside the Student Center also contribute to its green efforts.
The Georgia Gwinnett College Student Center is targeting silver-level certification from the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program. The LEED system encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally understood and adopted tools and performance criteria.
