Biography

Dr. Lauren R. Tapp is an associate professor of exercise science in the School of Science and Technology. Tapp's interest in exercise physiology stems from an extensive background in athletics as she played several sports growing up, including soccer, volleyball, track and field, and softball. She has a variety of interests relating to exercise science, however she has particular interests in the fields of strength and conditioning, pediatric exercise physiology and environmental physiology.

Tapp received her PhD from Temple University (Philadelphia) in integrative exercise physiology and completed her undergraduate degree (exercise science and nutrition) and master's degree (exercise physiology) at Florida State University. She also has ties to the University of Miami, where she completed her dissertation research as a visiting doctoral student.

Tapp's experience in the field extends beyond the classroom as she has worked in a multitude of applied settings including cardiac rehab, corporate wellness, hospital wellness, and commercial health and fitness. She has also worked in strength and conditioning at the high school, NCAA Division I and semi-professional levels, in addition to working with several professional athletes as private clients. Tapp is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association, a Certified Exercise Physiologist with the American College of Sports Medicine and is also a Certified Sports Performance Coach with USA Weightlifting.

Tapp grew up in the Fort Lauderdale, Fla. area. She continues to play soccer several days per week and is a dedicated FSU football fan.
