Biography

Mrs. Tonya DeGeorge is an instructor of mathematics and primarily teaches Math Modeling, College Algebra and Pre-Calculus. DeGeorge enjoys working with students and is interested in how students’ multiple identities affect how they learn mathematics.

Prior to working at Georgia Gwinnett College, DeGeorge taught in the public school system (K–12) as a high school mathematics/special education teacher. She has taught in Boston, as well as in Georgia (Gwinnett County).

DeGeorge comes to GGC with a wide variety of experiences. She helped develop a program specifically for students who continued to struggle with passing the state exams; underwent the portfolio process to earn her National Board teaching license; has led many professional development workshops for teachers; has written curriculum materials for K–12 education; and has been a part of many professional learning communities in conducting research.

DeGeorge currently lives in Gwinnett County with her husband, her two children, her cat, and her dog. She is excited to be a part of the GGC Team! Go Grizzlies!
