Biography

Dr. Anupam Nath is an associate professor in the School of Business. His teaching interests include management information systems and operations management. Nath believes that mastering a technology does not guarantee a successful career. The students need to learn how to use current as well as emerging technologies to solve relevant business problems and to keep them ahead of the curve. Moreover, the current economy and industry trends demand professionals with both technical and interpersonal skills. Hence, it is equally important to understand functional and integrated systems, work in teams, and to communicate to others functionality and applicability of different technologies. Based on this understanding, Nath’s teaching philosophy comprises of a set of four core principles: learning by doing, promoting critical thinking, encouraging teamwork, and learning beyond the classroom. 

Nath’s educational and professional background in computer science has shaped his primary research interests in emerging technologies and trends. Hence, his research interests tend to be more applied than purely theoretical. Currently, Nath is focusing on three research streams: 

  1. Impact of emerging technology for knowledge management and its effects
  2. Reputation systems, social media and role of context variables
  3. Offshoring and security 

Nath’s research has been published in several journals, including Journal of Information and Knowledge Management Systems, Journal of Accounting, Business & Management and e-Service Journal. His research has also been presented at national and international conferences, including America's Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS) and Decision Sciences Institute (DSI).
