Elizabeth Sudduth: DIRECTORY

Dr. Elizabeth Sudduth teaches organismal biology courses such as BIOL 1108K and ecology and is part of the new environmental science major at GGC. She enjoys helping her students see biology as the way we understand the world around us.

Sudduth's research is in urban stream ecology. She did her master's research studying aquatic insects in Peachtree Creek in Atlanta and her doctoral research on the biogeochemistry of urban streams in Durham and Raleigh, N.C. Her current research in Atlanta is primarily focused on the effects of urbanization on stream water quality and invertebrate communities and the ability of stream and wetland restoration projects to mitigate these impacts. Student research is ongoing at a site in Buckhead studying the efficacy of beavers to restore an urban wetland and stream.

She would be delighted to talk to students about research projects and careers in any kind of ecology or environmental science, or the intersections of ecology and public health that can occur when we study human-impacted places.
