Biography

Hyesung Park, Ph.D., grew up in Seoul, South Korea, where she earned her undergraduate degree in international business from Sookmyung Women’s University and her graduate certificate in management information systems from Korea University. She later earned her Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in educational technology and assessment in 2004. After moving to Minnesota, she taught educational technology and assessment courses as an assistant professor and also served as an assistant director of assessment and institutional research at Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota. She then moved to Lexington, Massachusetts, and earned her second master’s degree specializing in information technology from Harvard University in 2011.

Before joining Georgia Gwinnett College in Fall 2017, Park taught graduate and undergraduate courses in database design, security system management, software/hardware architecture and web development in Kennesaw State University's information technology department. She also taught undergraduate courses in programming languages in the departments of mathematical, computing and information sciences at Jacksonville State University, as well as in the information technology department at GGC.

Park has been the recipient of several awards. As a dedicated scholar-practitioner, Park adeptly balances her roles as both student and teacher, readily sharing valuable insights. Recognized as a recipient of the GHC 2023 Faculty Scholarship, she has also received research awards from Jacksonville State University, the Graduate Student Research Award from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, the 2012 Influential Korean Award from the Korean Society of New England (in Boston, Massachusetts), and the Hybrid Module Project Award (semiconductor division) from Motorola, Korea.
