Biography

Dr. Paredes received a B.A. in both chemistry and biology from Bellarmine University. She went on to complete her Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Miami. She is a passionate educator and loves to engage with her students in and out of the classroom. She designs each of her classes in a manner whereby students learn how to learn, regardless of the subject matter. Her laboratory research interests include oxygenation catalysis, catalytic mechanisms, organic/inorganic synthesis. In addition, she engages in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, with particular emphasis in educational technology.

While at GGC, she deeply engages in service and was awarded GGC's Faculty Service Award for 2016. This award was partially due to her involvement with curriculum development. She has served as both the Collegewide and General Education Curriculum chairs.
