Dr. Michael Kirberger

Dr. Michael Kirberger is a former software developer who returned to school to pursue advanced degrees in chemistry. After completing his Ph.D. and a brief post-doctoral at Georgia State University, Kirberger was a lecturer, then senior lecturer, at Clayton State University for five years, where he taught general chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, biocomputing and proteins. He then accepted an assistant professor position at Georgia Gwinnett College in 2016 and was promoted to associate professor in 2021.
Kirberger has published 14 papers or book chapters on a variety of topics including metals and metalloproteins in medicine, the roles of metals in disease and neurotoxicity, computational and statistical approaches to data mining and natural product chemistry.
