Biography

Dr. Semire Dikli is a professor of language and literacy education in the School of Education at Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC). In addition to her academic role, she serves as the program director for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grizzly Academy Dreamers Program at GGC. Dr. Dikli has received her doctorate in multilingual/multicultural education at Florida State University and completed her post-doctoral work at Florida Center for Reading Research. 

Her previous professional experience includes teaching courses related to English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and other English as a Second/Foreign Language (ESL/EFL). Additionally, she worked as an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program specialist at the Florida Department of Education, where she provided guidance to school districts in Florida for the implementation of ESOL programs in public schools.

Dr. Dikli’s research interests are centered around writing assessment and technology. She has presented at various regional, national and international conferences and has published journal articles and books in automated essay scoring, ESL/EAP writing, ESOL education and internationalized education.
