Free Calls to Troops in Iraq

Georgia Gwinnett College is offering free video calls to troops stationed in Iraq through December 22, 2006 and beginning again on January 3, 2007. Thanks to a partnership between the FreedomCalls Foundation and GGC, family and friends can contact service members who are located in, or have access to, facilities in Camp Fallujah, Camp Taji or Al Asad Airbase.

Thanks to a partnership between the FreedomCalls Foundation and GGC, family and friends can contact service members who are located in, or have access to, facilities in Camp Fallujah, Camp Taji or Al Asad Airbase.

Videoconferencing is available Mondays-Thursdays from 8am-9pm ET and Fridays and Saturdays from 8am-3pm ET. To arrange a video call, contact GGC at 678.407.5885 and provide a preferred date & time, the service members' name and facility (please note: Iraq is 8 hours ahead of ET).

How many people can participate in the video call?

GGC's facilities can accommodate small and large groups of families and friends. Please let us know how many people plan on attending the video call.

How does the video call work?

GGC's high-tech campus connects video and audio directly to facilities located in various locations in Iraq. During the video call, you'll be able to see, hear and speak with a service member.

I know someone in Iraq but they're not located Camp Fallujah, Camp Taji or Al Asad Airbase. Can I still set up a video call?

If the service member can reach one of the above facilities, GGC can connect you to them. Other locations in Iraq may be available in the future.

How long do the calls last?

Video calls can last 60 minutes or longer if no other families or military personnel are waiting to use the system.
