Georgia Gwinnett College Foundation officials announced today the purchase of a 70,000 square foot building located adjacent to the College’s property. Wayne Mason, chairman of the GGC Foundation’s real estate committee stated that the building would significantly add to a rapidly growing campus. “We are delighted with this acquisition, and believe it will be an excellent, permanent asset for the College,” Mason said.

The building, constructed in the early 1990s, currently houses Valentine Enterprises, a long-time Gwinnett company, and producer of health concentrate. Because of the expansion of their company, Valentine is consolidating operations and constructing new facilities in other parts of the county. Valentine Enterprises will lease back the facility from the GGC Foundation for three years while their new buildings are being constructed. The future uses of the building include office and warehouse storage space.

GGC Foundation President, Gordon Harrison, said that the purchase price of the building was $4 million, and includes 6.3 acres of land. “This is an outstanding purchase that allows us to secure the southeastern corner of the campus,” Harrison noted. “Since the new GGC master campus plan orients the campus to our Collins Hill Road entrance, the Valentine Building becomes an important strategic purchase.”

The purchase was financed using private funds from the GGC Foundation. Harrison said that the Foundation would transfer title of the building and land to the College at a future date. Georgia Gwinnett College is located on Collins Hill Road, near Georgia Hwy 316.

GGC is still accepting applications for the fall 2007 semester.
