Letter from the President on VT's "Orange and Maroon Effect Day"

Virginia Tech has declared today, Friday, April 20, as “Orange and Maroon Effect Day” to honor those killed in the tragic events on the Virginia Tech campus on Monday of this week. Our Student Government Association has encouraged all GGC students to wear orange and maroon today in support for Virginia Tech students, administrators, staff, alumni and friends, and I encourage everyone to support our SGA in its efforts to honor our colleagues at Virginia Tech who were killed or wounded in this horrific tragedy.

Dear Fellow Members of the Georgia Gwinnett College Family,

Virginia Tech has declared today, Friday, April 20, as “Orange and Maroon Effect Day” to honor those killed in the tragic events on the Virginia Tech campus on Monday of this week. Our Student Government Association has encouraged all GGC students to wear orange and maroon today in support for Virginia Tech students, administrators, staff, alumni and friends, and I encourage everyone to support our SGA in its efforts to honor our colleagues at Virginia Tech who were killed or wounded in this horrific tragedy.

These events have deeply saddened us all, and I ask all members of the GGC family to keep the victims and their families in our thoughts and prayers.

I also want to take this opportunity to assure you that campus safety is a foremost priority and that we are doing everything we can to keep our campus safe.

Sincerely,

Dr. Daniel J. Kaufman
President
Georgia Gwinnett College
