Secretary of State Karen Handel met with President Daniel J. Kaufman and other senior administrators today at Georgia’s newest four-year, public college to hear Georgia Gwinnett College’s plans for its first-ever freshman class and the years of growth ahead.

"I am incredibly impressed with the progress that GGC has made since opening its doors to students in August of 2006," said Secretary Handel. "GGC is not only a tremendous addition to Georgia's higher education network, it is the model for the future - with its strong emphasis on technology, accessibility, and serving the needs of the region."

Handel heard updates on the master plan, technology, hiring, community support and partnerships the College is building.

“Georgia Gwinnett College has received unprecedented support from the state of Georgia and it is important to keep Secretary Handel and all our public audiences updated on our growth,” said Kaufman. “GGC’s mission is to provide access to higher education, serve the needs of Gwinnett and the surrounding counties, and be innovative and efficient in our approach. Secretary Handel is a great advocate for higher education and it is an honor to have her on campus.”
