GGC's Sunday Funday Kicks Off Start of New Academic Year

Georgia Gwinnett College students, faculty and staff will come together as one for the first time in this new academic year on August 17 for Sunday Funday, GGC's kick-off to the 2008-2009 academic year. Over the past few weeks, students and new faculty have gone through orientation – learning their ways around the campus, meeting current faculty members and staff and just generally becoming acclimated to the University System of Georgia’s newest college campus.

Sunday Funday will bring everyone within the GGC community and their families together this weekend for a casual picnic on campus. Lunch will be served from noon until 1 p.m.

“It's a way to bring the campus together—faculty, staff, students, family, and friends—and just have an afternoon where we can get together informally, relax, and enjoy the day as we kick off the academic year,” says Adam Sterritt, director of student activities and leadership programs. The day is sponsored by the Georgia Gwinnett College Foundation.

Fantasy World Entertainment will provide amusement for the whole family – including inflatable games, beach volley ball and paddleball – all contributing to the carnival-like atmosphere.
