International food services group feeds GGC students daily

Georgia Gwinnett College doesn’t have a dining hall yet – but that doesn’t keep the students, faculty and staff from being nutritionally satisfied from sun up to sun down each day. Quiznos, Starbucks at the GGC Café, Pete’s Arena and The Marketplace are responsible for quenching the hunger and thirst needs of the nearly 2,000 “grizzly bears” on the 200 acre campus and international food services group Sodexo makes it happen.

The food court in Building A on the college’s campus houses The Marketplace, Pete’s Arena and Quiznos. The GGCity Café, which features a Starbucks and a variety of sandwiches and wraps, is located in the campus’ signature structure, Building B. All are managed by Sodexo. The college officially opened the food court today with a traditional ribbon-cutting event that unveiled the eateries and the new bookstore that is run by Barnes and Noble.

“Sodexo has done a terrific job giving our students a variety of food choices,” said Eddie Beauchamp, vice president of business and finance at GGC. “Many of our students are on campus all day and it became evident early on that we had to provide food services for them. Sodexo clearly was the right choice for us.”

A world leader in food and facilities management, Sodexo serves thousands of students and faculty on 900 U.S. college and university campuses each year in addition to other facilities including health care, retirement homes and military sites. The company was founded in 1966 and has more than 342,000 employees in 80 countries.
Sodexo provides locally grown and sustainable food products to the college campuses in the U.S., partnering with more than 500 local farmers near these campuses to offer the fresh fare. Ninety-eight cents of every dollar spent on produce goes to contracted distributors who support local farms.

In addition to the GGC Café, Sodexo operates the following:

Quiznos: A popular favorite across the nation. The eatery features traditional deli favorites, salads, soups and chili.

Pete’s Arena: As its name implies, Pete’s is a pizza restaurant featuring calzones, strombolis, breadsticks, pizza by the slice (or as a whole pie) and Otis Spunkmeyer cookies.

The Marketplace: Features traditional breakfast items and rotating weekly menus of comfort food including fried chicken, lasagna, barbecue ribs, spaghetti, tacos, etc. Couscous, rice, veggies and delicious deserts round out the menu. The Marketplace also has a grill with hamburgers, hotdogs, french fries and onion rings.
