Byrd-Lewis to head GGC Foundation strategic planning committee

Renee Byrd-Lewis has been named chair of the Georgia Gwinnett College Foundation’s strategic planning committee. The newly formed committee will seek to develop the Foundation’s first long-term plan to guide its growth and align its activities, priorities and strategies with the needs of the College, its students and its programs.

The newly formed committee will seek to develop the Foundation’s first long-term plan to guide its growth and align its activities, priorities and strategies with the needs of the College, its students and its programs.

“We are truly fortunate to have someone with Renee’s experience and expertise in this position,” said Gordon Harrison, president of the GGC Foundation. “This committee’s input is crucial in ensuring a vibrant future for the foundation and the College.”

An active member of the community, Byrd-Lewis serves as a charter member of the GGC Foundation’s board of trustees. She also serves on the boards of the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce, Gwinnett Medical Center Foundation, Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia, United Way, Gwinnett Coalition for Health & Human Services, Computers for Youth and Leadership Gwinnett.

Byrd-Lewis is Director of Community Relations for Cisco. In that position, she is responsible for ensuring that Cisco is actively involved in social, quality of life, talent and business issues affecting the region.

She has a bachelor’s degree from Emory University and a master’s in higher education administration from Georgia State University. Byrd-Lewis has more than 20 years of experience in corporate relations, community leadership, higher education and nonprofit management. She and her family reside in Buford.
