Pinder to develop GGC’s new international program

Anthony L. Pinder has been appointed Georgia Gwinnett College’s first director of internationalization. He is responsible for the vision, implementation and staffing of the College’s new, comprehensive international program.

Anthony L. Pinder has been appointed Georgia Gwinnett College’s first director of internationalization. He is responsible for the vision, implementation and staffing of the College’s new, comprehensive international program.

“Tony’s experience and enthusiasm will ensure that we have a strong international program,” said GGC President Daniel J. Kaufman. “International students contribute significantly to an academic community by introducing a vibrant and diverse mix of perspectives. Study abroad programs and a curriculum infused with international dimensions also are keys to a robust educational experience. In today’s global economy, it is more important than ever for students to develop an understanding of, and appreciation for, people and cultures from around the world.”

Pinder is a doctoral candidate at Clark Atlanta University’s School of Education, and holds a master’s degree in international economics and Latin American studies from The Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, D.C. He also has a bachelor’s degree in finance from Morehouse College in Atlanta. His professional interests focus on the international dimensions of higher education at the institutional, system, national and international levels, and student global learning outcomes. He has traveled and worked extensively throughout Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Europe and Latin America.

Pinder served as the national director for minority recruitment with the U.S. Peace Corps in Washington, D.C. He held senior administrative positions at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana and Georgia Perimeter College. He is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
