Remembering 9-11

In remembrance of the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C., the Georgia Gwinnett College Police Honor Guard will hold a memorial flag ceremony on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011 at the campus flag poles. At 8:44 a.m., the Honor Guard will lower the flags. At 8:46 a.m., an outdoor chime will sound 11 times to mark the time Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center. GGC President Daniel J. Kaufman will then make brief comments.

“The 10th anniversary of the attacks is an important time to remember those individuals who lost their lives, their families and the first responders who dutifully sacrificed their lives to protect and serve the citizens of this great nation,” said Kaufman.

The memorial ceremony is open to the public.
