It was standing room only in Georgia Gwinnett College’s 650-seat LVIS room as the School of Business and Marketing Club recently hosted Brian Perdue, CEO and founder of The 124 Group in Gwinnett County, for a presentation on his experiences.

Perdue, who was awarded the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce’s Pinnacle Award - Small Business Person in 2008, captivated the audience as he spoke about motivation, starting life very poor, and the many detours taken in his life’s journey before founding The 124 Group. The company, which includes Salon 124, Genesis Salon and The Process Institute of Cosmetology, grossed more than $10 million in the last year and has been named to Gwinnett Magazine’s Best of Gwinnett 2002-2011.

During the past few years, Perdue’s company has received multiple awards within its field, including Salon of the Year – Award of Special Distinction from Salon Today and the New Talent Award from Vogue Magazine. Salon Today 200 also recognized it for five consecutive years as one of the fastest growing salon organizations in the United States.

“It is easy to see why Mr. Perdue has been so successful,” observed student Kaveh Vakili. “His presentation was compelling. We believe his message was particularly meaningful to the student body, since so many of us face challenging times in today’s economy. We can definitely learn from his example, and appreciate his taking the time to speak with our students.”
