Erin Lee, former head volleyball coach at Florida Institute of Technology, has been selected as business manager for the Georgia Gwinnett College Office of Athletics.

She will oversee the athletic budget and monitor budgets for each of the teams. She also will serve as liaison with the GGC business office, and will assist with game operations when competition begins in the fall.

While at Florida Tech, she managed all aspects of the Panthers’ volleyball team, including coaching, coordinating team travel and game dates, overseeing the program budget and leading fundraising efforts to offset program costs. She also coordinated academic and athletic scholarships and recruited team members.

“I’m originally from the area, so this opportunity brought me home,” Lee said. “While visiting my parents in Alpharetta over the years, I watched the tremendous growth happening at GGC and I’m thrilled to now be a part of it.”

Lee graduated from the University of Alabama where she received a bachelor’s degree in business management and a master’s degree in marketing. While there, she was a star volleyball player and team captain, receiving the distinction of SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2003. She was the first in the university’s history to hold a record of 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career assists.

In addition to her lead coach experience, Lee served as marketing intern with the University of Alabama’s athletics department where she led in-game promotional activities to entertain fans, coordinated and administered fundraising events and assisted with licensing operations.

“The opportunity to build and grow a new athletic program is extremely attractive to me,” Lee said.  “Being a former player and coach, I know what it takes to run a successful program.”

“We are incredibly fortunate to have someone on board with Erin’s breadth of experience,” said Director of Athletics Darin Wilson. “Her knowledge of all facets of collegiate athletics positions her as a valued member of our team as we build the GGC program.”
